The First Sunday in Advent:
In church and at home we light the first purple candle on the Advent Wreath. We remember the work God has done in providing Jesus, God Incarnate, as the solution for the terrible quandry we found ourselves in after the Fall in the Garden of Eden. Isn't it wonderful that God, even before time began, knew we would need a Saviour and made provision for one!
This morning we sang "Oh come, oh come, Emanuel!" How MUCH we need a Saviour. As I write this, it is dark and raining outside. I recall that Isaiah wrote "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light!" I thank God this day for Jesus, the Light of the World!
